How to Properly Store a Lift Station after Delivery

Delivering Lift Station

When your lift station reaches the job site, make sure you store it properly to protect the equipment and prepare for installation. Below are our recommended guidelines for safely storing the tank, pumps, and control panel.

Storing the Lift Station Tank

The lift station tank can withstand outdoor conditions, so you can leave it outside in the weather until installation However, because tanks are round and can shift or roll, it is important to secure them properly. We recommend placing sturdy blocks or chocks on both sides of the tank to prevent movement, especially on uneven ground or during high winds. Keeping the tank stable helps avoid damage and ensures a safe work area.

Storing the Pumps

The pumps are one of the most valuable components of your lift station. While they can get wet, they must still be handled with care:

  • Store the pumps indoors in a safe, secure area whenever possible.
Pumps contain a significant amount of copper, which unfortunately makes them a target for theft on job sites.

  • Keep the power cords protected.
Although the pumps themselves can handle moisture, you must keep the power cords dry. Make sure you lift the cords off the ground or cover them to protect them.

Storing the Control Panel

Because the control panel is an electrical component, you must keep it dry at all times.

  • Store the panel indoors in a weatherproof, dry location.

  • The panel cannot be exposed to rain, moisture, or condensation.

  • Avoid storing it directly on concrete floors where humidity may accumulate; use a pallet or elevated shelf when possible.

Proper storage protects your investment, reduces the chance of damage or theft, and ensures a smooth installation when the time comes. If you have any questions, our team is always here to help.
